Hi! My name is Holly Lee Rostkowski.
I am a mixed media artist who just loves texture in my work.
After graduating Philadelphia High School for Girls, I attended Tyler School of Art, Temple University, in Ambler, PA.
Art school taught me many things but, one thing it did not teach me was how to paint intuitively. Over the last few years, through much exploration and experimentation, I have come to know the true meaning of creating honest art, creating intuitively; when one can create from within based on what one feels to be true, even without conscious reasoning, instinctive.
I explore intuitive painting in the abstract through mixed media, pretty much whatever I can get my hands on. That may include but, does not limit my practice to, oil paints mixed with cold wax medium, acrylic paints, resin, plaster, encaustic, as well as other methods to achieve very textural works.
I use mark making and my own personal forms of symbolism to tell my stories through colors and textures. A lot of my work comes from a place of vulnerability. I have come to learn that in sharing my stories through my art, that most people can relate to these experiences and have experienced similar feelings and situations themselves. My artwork has allowed me the opportunity to open up and share, to be vulnerable in ways words may not allow me.
I just want you to know that I see you! That we are all in this together, we are not alone. By sharing my art, my stories and my life with all of you, I have learned that we all have much more in common than one would think. We all may be a bit “Broken” but that is what makes us all uniquely Beautiful! Let’s own that shit!
“A little Broken and Uniquely Beautiful”
xoxo, Holly Lee
