Five Golden Rings
Five Golden Rings
Okay, I know there are technically only 3 rings on this piece and they are brass, not gold, but I couldn’t help myself.
When I was little “The Muppet Show”, by Jim Henson, was a big deal in my house. It would come on once a week in the evenings and it was my favorite television show.
My two sisters and I would gather around the tv in our pjs, grab our bedtime snack and watch the shenanigans of Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy. To this day I still love the original muppets, Kermit, Miss Piggy, The Swedish Chef, The two old guys, Animal. What a classic!
One of my favorite Christmas songs is the “12 days of Christmas”. I always like to quiz myself to see if I can remember the lyrics correctly.
One year the Muppets had a Christmas special, I can still recall them singing the “12 Days of Christmas”. Miss Piggy does everything with panache, her part in the song does not disappoint. Every time I hear the part in the song, 5 Golden Rings, I can’t help but to hear her version of that lyric in my head. Without fail, every time I hear the song, I cry out, in typical Miss Piggy fashion, FIIIIIVE GOLLLLLDENN RIIIIINGS! Baddah, Bump, Bump! My kids think I am nuts!
It is something so silly, but the holidays aren’t complete without watching something with the Muppets characters.
Now every year I break out “A Muppets Christmas Carol” and watch it with the kids.
Something that was once a weekly tradition for my sisters and I has now become a Christmas tradition for my family.
Five Golden Rings
